Interface – De Ontmoeting
“Imagine that there’s always a screen between your face and the outside world. Imagine that you have never seen the face of your lover or looked at your own eyes in the mirror.”
The future doesn’t look much different from today in INTERFACE, but every human face is shielded from the outside world by a reflective mask: a screen through which you can look out, but that makes every person lead a faceless life. When facing someone else, one drowns in an endless reflection of reflections. Mobile phones and cameras function as eyes outside of this interface.
In this world a young man struggles. His girlfriend left to look for a different way to live. There are rumours of places where people live without an interface; where lovers can look straight into each other’s eyes. When he heads off to look for this place, he slowly loses his grip on his senses. The border between reality, memory, desire and illusion slowly dissolves. Will he be able to find her and escape from his interface and the gaze of the cameras?

De Ontmoeting is een realiseringsmogelijkheid voor korte films, die zowel bestaat voor filmmakers als voor het publiek. Elke editie van De Ontmoeting bestaat uit een serie films van maximaal zes minuten in verschillende genres (fictie, documentaire, animatie, experimenteel en alles daartussenin). Door vooraf een distributietraject uit te stippelen, wordt zorg gedragen voor de verspreiding van de films onder een breder publiek. De films worden na voltooiing vertoond in bioscopen, op festivals, op TV en online. De Ontmoeting creëert op deze manier een showcase van talenten en faciliteert zo een ontmoeting tussen het publiek en nieuwe verhalen.
